Mission Statement
- Our ultimate aim is to become a fully ecological-sustainable tour company. At this point in our development we cannot profess to fit all the criteria needed to operate as a fully ecological, sustainable and environmentally friendly company. This is not something than can be achieved straight away, but with careful planning and forethought it is attainable. By working in partnership with the relevant conservation bodies, local people and businesses we can together accomplish our goals for a greener sustainable future.
- Our tour is also about educating. At all the sites we visit we will give a small talk on the overall ecology of the area, the threats it suffers and any conservation plans that are being implemented to help conserve it. This ties in with our overall ethics as a company. We will be running a carbon-offsetting scheme and working in partnership with local NGOS and conservation professionals to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible.
- A lot of so called ecotourism that is on the market at the moment is really Nature Tourism. Nature tourism is really just a holiday based around nature. Visits to natural parks, areas of outstanding beauty or to see specific wildlife experiences are just some examples. This type of tourism without planning and forethought can be detrimental to the site visited and may impact to such an extent that the sites ecology is damaged and what visitors are coming to see can be lost.
- Ecotourism on the other hand, with forethought and planning alongside NGO'S and other like-minded conservation professionals can have a very positive impact for the sites future.
- To help clients understand the conservation needs of any given area visited and add to their overall experience. We will be meeting and talking directly to the people who are involved. We involve the local conservation groups and local experts to actively educate our clients about the threats that the area suffers from. As well as any species that has any special protection on site.
- Ourselves as a company will endeavour to make sure the visitors leave with a rudimentary understanding of the threats that the flora and fauna suffer, and how these threats are being met.
- Educate about current threats. E.g. poisoning, drought e.t.c.
- At each site we will advise clients of any guidelines relating to how they can be responsible and keep visitor impacts to a minimum. A copy of the Spanish countryside code will be made available at the beginning of the tour, with the relevant sections to each site highlighted each day. This will include things such as keeping to footpaths and keeping disturbance to wildlife as low impact as possible.
- However responsible visitors are, the problems that come along with them cannot realistically be completely eliminated. However, with careful planning, management and relations with the relevant local conservation parties, disturbance can be kept to a bare minimum. This will lead to any impacts from tourists being low and allowing them an enriching as well as an educational experience.
- We ultimately want to provide ecologically sustainable tourism with an emphasis on the enjoyment of the wonders of the natural world. Its history and to impart an understanding of the environment and culture, its appreciation and conservation.
- To help keep our transport emissions low we will have longer trips in the field. We will be concentrating on a particular site by running specialist trips to one area. All of the sites visited are approximately one hour from where we are based, minimizing the amount of time on the road.
- As it is not always possible for ecotravellers to partake in a long trip because of limited time or finances, we offer the chance for people to experience as much flora and fauna in our tour as is possible, whilst leaving as lower an eco-footprint as possible when travelling as a group.
