About Us
We offer an exclusive and excitingly planned five day experience, visiting some of the most prolific birding, wildlife and historical areas in southern Spain . Whilst Andalucia's birdlife and its other wildlife are fascinating throughout the year, this region of Andalucía, in particular, plays host to the remarkable spectacle of the spring and autumn migrations. We are a small friendly and ecologically responsible, nature-based tour company. We are offering the opportunity for you to participate in one of our exceptional Andalucían Wildlife Experiences. A unique and varied tour in a region of outstanding natural beauty! One with a difference! We set ourselves apart from other tour companies by not only giving you a wildlife holiday experience to remember but, also, one that you will leave, knowing that you have played your part in conserving and protecting the habitats of the wildlife you came to see. It is our policy that it's only right that we give something back to protect this area for future generations. We will be looking for as many different examples of the outstanding flora and fauna that are present in each of the variety of different habitats we will be visiting, their history, culture and customs. We will look at the threats these areas suffer, but also make you aware of the conservation measures that are being implemented now and in the future.

The various ecosystems of this truly AWE-inspiring south-western corner of Andalucía have so much to offer. Andalucía has the hottest and driest summers of all the regions in Spain and, also, very wet winters. This spectacular area situated in the south-western corner of Spain, the most southerly tip of Eurasia, meets Africa, and as importantly, bisects two of the worlds oceans, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Where these two differing oceanic ecosystems converge, one warm and salty the other cold and storm laden, nutrient rich waters are produced. These nutrient rich waters lead to the formation of species rich biodiverse communities. These "biodiversity hotspot" areas hold a disproportionate number of species, compared to other areas and, often, contain important numbers of endemic species. Biodiversity hotspot regions are often in need of immediate conservation/protection and, as a consequence many of the endemic species are threatened with extinction. Andalucía is the only one in Europe! There are 34 hotspots worldwide. In Andalucía 10% of the 5,000 vascular plants found here are endemic. There are also up to 250 species of birds that can be found here all year round. The bird numbers greatly increase in spectacular numbers during migration. There are also numerous species of mammals to be found, such as the captivating Iberian Lynx. Unique and fascinating reptiles, such as the European Chameleon, can also be found here along with an impressive variety of amphibians and invertebrates.
Andalucía is one such hotspot that you needn't travel half way around the world to experience! Andalucía is classified as an important biodiversity hotspot in the Mediterranean basin. There are several habitat types here, including many important wetlands, mountainous regions, forests, cork and olive woods, and some truly breathtaking wild beaches. These unique habitats will allow us to experience a full flavour of this truly wild and awe-inspiring part of Spain. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a friendly, personable and professional five day wildlife experience, taking pleasure in all the magnificent flora and fauna, regardless of which particular aspect of natural history you are interested in.
The Andalucian Wildlife Experience is a holiday with a difference. We take small groups of up to eight people, maximum, ensuring that everyone is in a small and personable group so you, as an individual, can enjoy the itenary to the full. This allows us to offer you flexibility and maneuverability to meet the requirements of your holiday. We will be visiting reserves and habitats of particular interests, where you will get to meet local experts in differing fields of conservation, ecology and wildlife research. The group will always be accompanied by our guide, who has a degree in Ecology and Conservation and a variety of birding, bat and wildlife experiences both in the UK and in Spain . When you participate in an Andalucian Wildlife Experience, we will endeavour to show you the specialities in an exclusive and diverse five day itinerary. This is achieved by using the most up to date sightings and local knowledge of the areas, in using experienced local guides, and most importantly enjoying our wildlife experience in a sustainable and ecologically friendly manner.
We use a modern comfortable nine seat air-conditioned minibus, with an experienced ex RAF driver and qualified medic, with many years of experience of safely transporting and looking after groups of people. This allows you to take in the spectacular and breathtaking scenery in comfort and being free to concentrate on spotting wildlife along the way. Travelling as a group also effectively takes as many as eight cars of the roads, lowering the amount of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. Travelling as group also affords the opportunity to make new and often lasting friendships with like minded people.
We are based in Chiclana de la Frontera, situated on the coastline of Spain 's "Costa de la luz", "Coast of Light" in the Cadiz province, south western corner of Andalucía. You will be staying in the excellent family run and ecologically aware, charming Hotel Diufain, in Conil de la Frontera . The hotel provides daily breakfast and a daily picnic style lunch for our daily excursions. The hotel is situated only 900 meters from the vibrant seafront and restaurants serving excellent locally caught seafood and local specialities. Evening life in Conil is often rich and traditional, so if you still feel up to exploring the surroundings, there is much to enjoy!
This is a unique opportunity to experience and understand this AWE-inspiring part of Andalucía, with its quaint and historic white villages and its abundance of remarkable flora and fauna. We are certain that you will get as much enjoyment and stimulation out of this holiday experience as we do.
